..I hate the fact that for me..or my camera, it's nearly impossible to have a decent photo of a drawing with so much black as in this one.. > > ..I took dozens of pictures, tried different settings and places and still in every single picture had a shiny spot... O ^ O ..mmmeh. I hate shiny lead.. xC

I’m just not in the mood for talking about my drawing.. x/ I’ve been thinking about how I should publish this journal.. Should I post these texts and process pictures only on my blog or should I spam all these entries to my deviantArt scrapbook..? Or both? …maybe I’ll go to write a journal of this huge problem. Or should I be a selfish bastard and just keep this to myself so that no one could possibly steal my tricks and secret teqhniques. Hmmmm.

Okay.. that’s about it now. O . O …I’m serious, the drawing is kinda ready. All I have to do now is to clean the edges and check every square millimeter to make sure everything is perfect. WHOA. .. I’m so happy atm. *yayz*
It’s so dark already, I can’t get a proper picture of the drawing today… so I’ll just go and edit the other pics and start putting together this journal..! Editing all those work in process pictures is a lot of work. O – O ..I’ve got roughly two pictures for each day so that makes almost twenty wip –pictures..!! *faints*

Now, I’ve decided the title. It’ll be “black and white pornography” … [it has a nice sound and rhyme in it when you say it out loud, don’t you think.. :P ] or b&w pornography .. or monochromatic pornography … depends on how many characters deviantArt allows me to put in the title.

August 17th

Today I’ve edited a lot of pictures for this journal. 8) .. I probably should try to draw a bit too. xD
…Okay, I didn’t draw much, I got really annoyed with his necklace and that blonde hair..mmmeh. xD ..did some scribbles around the lower right corner so yay I’m slowly finally approaching the finish line..!

August 16th

I made almost no progress at all. But at least I got some ideas for the title such as pornographic and something like that... Because I read a surprisingly.. interesting fan fic.. Yeah, it was pwp. I’ve got a dirty mind okay. ..I broke my brain. ..wait, isn’t there a stamp on dA which says I broke my brain..? XD ..nah, couldn’t find it, I guess I just remembered wrong. :<
Oh well, I did something to the hair on the right side.. Didn’t get it finished though. And messed it kinda badly, the light wisps of hair aren’t where they should..
About drawing the hair in case someone’s interested.. First I draw the base colour which is the medium shade of the hairs colour with 2H and 2B and blend it with a tissue. Then I take some of the colour off with an eraser to create the lightest parts of the hair which will remain white. I continue with 2H and my mechanical pencil to darken the hair colour all over, except the very lightest parts. To create some hair looking texture I use the mechanical pencil and I often use a knife to make the lead sharper to get even thinner and finer strokes, a useful tip I learned ages ago from someone on dA.

Some lovely oh so artistic crap to put in the artist’s comment, yay.. Just.. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a big fan of Uruha or anything, I just happen to find him..or more accurately, his looks INTERESTING. Just.. look at that face. It’s something.. difficult to describe, to me it’s not BEAUTIFUL, it’s weird and unique, interesting.. It’s fascinating how that face can look incredibly sweet and pretty and in the next moment it’s just hideous and ugly.. *yay I hope you crazy fans won’t throw bricks at poor little hipe! ohoho. I could say just so much meaner things, be grateful of my self censoring..* …yeah, those lips are still quite ..cute.

Oh why God, WHY does this crappy drawing of mine look so much better as a photo on my computer than in front of me in real life?!?!?

August 15th

I did something. < < With the zipper. yay, the first two zippers are done, only two more left. Oh yes, I drew some shadows on his neck, finished the black part of his clothes on the left side and started figuring out those blonde hair at the front.. I think I hate drawing blonde hair on black background. 8C After getting really annoyed by that hair I started drawing the bracelet on the upper right corner of the drawing. Gwah- I also hate drawing jewelry!! 8C

August 14th

Yayz for the blackness that just keeps on spreading.. Just keep swimming ~ ♪ Just keep swimming ~ ♪ or how the song really goes, I can’t remember, it’s been too long since I saw finding nemo.. *tear* Yup, some more of that pattern thingie there, ended up being too big but what can you do now when it’s already done and with such a dark colour that it can’t be erased properly… mmmeh.

August 13th

Friday the 13th, le gasp!! I didn’t draw much, just something on the lower left corner of the drawing and his neck.. xP ..Oh and I started my epic fight with those zippers. Sounds perverted, doesn’t it, first dealing with his neck and moving down to fight with the zipper.. … …….. Okay no more pr0n for me. -.-;

August 12th

Today I took a lot of pictures.. let’s see if I’ll put all of them here or just a couple of them.. Nah, I’ll put them all, juuuust to make this thing excruciatingly long and boring for the people who actually try reading this through. *evil laugh*



So. First I coloured the rest of that black sleeve. Then I finally started working on his face and especially his lips properly. As you can see I hadn’t touched his lips almost at all until this point.. I really find those lips of his difficult, but maybe that’s because lips in general are always a challenge to me since I’m kinda perfectionist when it comes to drawing lips. o _ O ..Yeah. I’ve got a thing for lips. And for noses as well but noses are so much easier to draw so I don’t get to complain about them too oftem.. XD ..I love drawing noses. O . O



After a good while of rubbing that face I tried to focus on the hair on the left side of his face. I found it difficult since I kept constantly spotting some details on the face that needed to be fixed. xD I guess I still managed to get it somewhat done.. xD



And then the blackness continued spreading, how interesting is that. xD .. I also started testing a bit how I’d draw the zippers..

August 11th

First I finished drawing the bracelet and worked a bit more on the hair covering his eye. And then the black area started to spread as I took my softest pencils, 5B and 6B and started colouring the arm.. In the picture below you can see how much of that cursed pattern I drew and then just coloured over it..!



I started to get a little worried about his face, I thought I’d ruin it for sure if the rest of the drawing turns out well. xD Even if I planned to work like I planned I still couldn’t manage to keep my hands off his face, I noticed I was doing something small all the time, shading the skin little by little and fixing the eyes and eyebrow all over again. Even if I was supposed to draw those later. > > So I guess I’ve failed a little.. mmmmeh.

August 10th

I tried to figure out the material of his clothing.. I’m still not quite sure what it is and how it is supposed to look like. ^^; ..but I tried my best. Just look at that pattern, does it look familiar to you? ..To me it looks painfully familiar, it’s pretty much similar to the net I drew on my previous portrait of Uruha. I was sure it would kill me when I drew the rest of his arm.. xD Anyway, I drew the pattern all over the light spot on the sleeve, coloured the surroundings as black as I could with the 4H and blended it and a bit over the pattern too to make the change from the shadow to the light smooth. Then I just used eraser to create the lightest highlights.
Next I started working on his bracelet. The metal parts seem to be the lightest in the whole picture so I made sure the paper was all clean and white where I was going to draw the bracelet with erasing all over it. Then I carefully started drawing the basic shape with 2H and mechanical pencil and made some subtle shadings with 2B. I also did some shading on his face, blended and added some more shadows, no too much though, it’s still not even close to finished. Oh, and I put some basic colour on the hair between his arm and face, just to mention. xD
Wow, the lighting sure changes how the drawing looks, I didn’t touch his lips almost at all but in the second picture it looks like I erased them or something.. xD I’m such a good photographer.

August 9th - introduction

Itroducing the process:

What am I doing?
I’m drawing a portrait of Uruha [the guitarist of a Japanese band The Gazette] and writing this journal throughout the process.
How ?
I’m using one sheet of standard A4 printer paper, pencils 2H, 2B, 4B, 5B & 6B, a mechanical pencil with 07 HB leads, toilet paper [for blending!! xD] , eraser. I’m also using the picture below this for reference.

August 9th 2010
I started making a rough sketch using my H2 pencil. For sketching I edited the reference picture a bit, adjusted brightness and contrast and played a bit with curves so the picture looks like the picture above... ..Okay lol I just couldn’t resist, ignore it, please.. xD



It took about a couple of hours to get it to the point in picture 1. I used some crosshatching to mark the areas that were going to be black or very dark and some of the shadows as well. This way I also got a good idea of the picture as whole. I thought it might help me because I wanted to try drawing in a different way compared to how I usually work. Instead of working on the whole picture I was going to proceed from the upper left towards the lower right corner of the picture to avoid messing the drawing with my hand while working on it. I think it’s unevidable since there are so many black areas in the picture that might easily mess the lighter parts if I wasn’t very careful..

The 2H, which is the hardest pencil I use, looks really light and grey instead of black so it’s best for sketching like this because it blends nicely with softer and darker pencils and can be almost completely erased if needed.

When I was satisfied with the sketch, I started working with the hair in the upper left corner of the picture. For the hair I used the 2H and some softer pencils, 2B and 4B. [More accurate explanation about drawing hair later...! xD ] I coloured the part of the background and some of his sleeve, as seen in the picture 2. I also drew some basic shadows and features on his face, just because I couldn’t stand looking at a drawing with so unfinished face... xD

My huge project is proceeding. hiiii. O ω O
I've written a lot and I think I'll post the drawing journal in little pieces, not in a one huge post. Though then most of the entries will be "old" and there'll be like a dozen of my posts spammed to my readers but I guess that makes no harm to anyone, I think the only people who read this blog are my aunt, my dear Q, mr GayJanne + some random people who have got here by an accident or something... xD Feel free to correct if I'm wrong. -.-;
I might just start posting the first parts rigth away as I get the pictures edited...but then again I'd love to keep the identity of my victim secret 'til the very end.. xD .. I'm pretty sure you can't tell who my victim is by looking just at that nose.. xP
The drawing is going pretty well too, only the lower right corner is still almost untouched. x)

taideprojekteistani - I

Viime aikoina on tullut useaan otteeseen manailtua, kun ei käytössäni ole oikein kunnon kameraa. 8/ ..esimerkiksi mökillä viikonloppuna meni monta hienoa kuvaustilaisuutta ohitse, vain koska kamera puuttui. Kännykkäkamera ei oikein riitä, katsokaa vaikka itse, esimerkki tuossa yläpuolella. Ärrinmurrin.

Tällä hetkellä työn alla on eräs piirros, joku satunnainen japanilainen muusikko-ihminen, o-my-gawd, en ikinä olisi tuota arvannut. eheh.
Olen dokumentoinut projektin edistymistä hyvin tunnollisesti, mutta jostain syystä ajatus että lähtisin postaamaan deviantArtiin tuhatta ja sataa prosessikuvaa ei oikein sytytä. Siksipä päädyinkin ideaan että kyhään tänne blogiini hurrrrrrjan prosessiraporttihöskän ja julkaisen sen kun tekele viimein valmistuu. iei. Luultavasti kirjoittelen sen vielä englanniksi, että on jotain mieltä sitten deeaasta linkittää siihen.. *jep jep suuret on suunnitelmat, katsotaan nyt sitten miten toteutuksen käy.. errrh. *

Hit music only..?

Mökillä luonnon hiljaisuuden piinatessa sieluani päätin ensimmäistä kertaa vuosiin avata radion. Ajattelin, jospa sieltä kuuntelisin jonkin hirveän kesähitin jota voisi sitten päivitellä, ja vähän edes tietäisi, mitä radiossa nykyään soi.

Napsautin päälle jääkaapin päällä nököttävän ikivanhan radion ja kuuntelin. Demin tuoreimman numeron mainos, radioaseman vain hittimusiikkia lupaava hehkutus ja viimein musiikkia. Kappaleen alkusoitto oli pelottavan tuttu. Aloin epäillä korviani ja mieleni terveyttä, mutta kappaleen alku todisti epäilykseni oikeiksi.

Anssi Kelan Mikan faijan BMW. Juuri se biisi jota joskus herranjestas ehkä ala-asteella kuunneltiin ja laulettiin mukana. Ei mitään Lady Gagaa tai mitän muutakaan tämän päivän kuumimpia nimiä. Jotenkin huvittavaa. Nostalgioin siinä sitten kuin mikäkin satavuotias. Ehhh. Toisaalta, onhan biisissä tarinaakin, pisti hieman miettimäänkin..

Järkytyksestä toivuttuani kuuntelin kappaleen loppuun ja sammutin radion. Sieltä nyt tuskin enää mitään yhtä loistavaa olisi tullut.
